Group Art Therapy for Adults
Inclusive Online Group Therapy Across Ontario
“Art is for healing ourselves.”
– Linda Ronstadt, Singer & Artist
Group Art Therapy Can Help You:
Break free from creative blocks and step into yourself again.
Heal from anxiety, confusion, feeling “stuck”, and other painful moments that are holding you back.
De-stress and find an enjoyable creative outlet.
Build new friendships and connect with other creatives while exploring something new.
Learn more about who you really are.
Our art therapists are experts in helping you break free from burnout, restore your creativity, and tap into new parts of yourself. If you’re a creative adult looking for a space to dig deep and have fun with other creators this summer, group art therapy might be the perfect first step!
Discover a space for you.
For 90 minutes a week, take the time to take care of you.
You’ll find a safe and caring creative space to talk with others, take care of yourself, and get your creativity flowing.
No artistic experience is necessary: just a willingness to play, bring out your inner child, and find a bit of ease, slowness, and joy. We’ll meet you where you’re at, guiding you through a process of healing and creating in tandem. Whether you create on a regular basis or haven’t picked up a paintbrush since grade school, you are welcome here.
Together, we’ll support you in filling your cup and bringing out the best version of yourself. Let’s get started!

What Happens in Group Art Therapy?
Summer group art therapy is held in an Open Studio format, with opportunities for new participants to join each week and different weekly topics to keep things interesting for those who choose to join us all summer. You’ll be free to explore your creative expression within a therapeutic container. It’s all about tuning in, expressing yourself, and seeing what might unfold!
Each session of group therapy is tailored to the folks in the group, so each session will be uniquely crafted to best fit your needs. All groups will be inclusive, open to diverse folks and their experiences, and founded on the belief that art should be accessible for all. We work within a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive framework to create a welcoming space for everyone. We’ll explore topics such as creative blocks, stress and burnout, self-care, and finding a space to slow down and enjoy yourself.
No art experience is required! All you need is a willingness to play, connect with others, and enjoy your unique creative process in a supportive space.
A typical 90-minute session might look something like this:
1) Opening welcome, group norms, and check-in
2) Topic of the week: offering your creative direction
3) Supported time for art-making and creative work
3) Group discussion for sharing and processing
4) Closing summary and reflections

Why Choose Counterspiral?
Our team is a unique group with some important things in common.
We all deeply care about social justice, equity, and making the world a better place. We are actively anti-racist, queer and trans affirming, and we celebrate neurodiversity.
We are compassionate, supportive, and educated therapists who use evidence-based best practices to customize each session, just for you. And we’re also real people who will laugh with you, hold space for you, and authentically connect with you. We fully show up in session so that you have a brave and safe space to let it all out.
We know that therapy is really about you, so we’ll always do our best to match you to a team member who is a great fit.
