What is ASIST?

ASIST isn’t just another training—it’s a life saving resource. Join us in creating a suicide-safer community.

ASIST involves:

  • Experience 2 days of intensive learning and practice in life-saving suicide intervention skills.

  • Understand your own attitudes and beliefs about suicide.

  • Gain confidence to ask about suicide, listen empathetically, and co-create a safety plan with someone at risk.

  • Prevent suicide thoughts from becoming suicide behaviours through clear, actionable steps.

  • Work with two or more registered trainers from the LivingWorks global community.

  • Take home resources, including access to the LivingWorks Connect app.

Who this training is for:

This training is intended for everyone: healthcare workers, community leaders, educators, and everyday people regardless of role, occupation, or prior suicide helping experience. The following points make you an especially good fit:

→ You are a caring person living in a community, who wants to become more ready, willing, and able to prevent suicide.

→ You are curious about becoming part of a suicide-safer network, and are prepared to dive into an intensive training about suicide.

→ You are mentally ready to have deep conversations about suicide and learn practical skills. As such, this training is not recommended for someone who has recently experienced a loss through suicide.

We also offer trainings for organizations across Ontario. Contact us to learn more!
