About Me
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by depression, or exhausted from navigating a world that often misunderstands or marginalizes neurodivergent experiences.
They may feel isolated, judged, or disconnected from themselves and others, and unsure of how to move forward.
I offer a space where clients don’t have to carry their struggles alone. My approach is holistic and individualized, shaped around each person’s unique needs, identity, and goals. I work through an anti-racist, neurodivergent-affirming, and queer-inclusive lens to ensure that clients feel seen, heard, and respected. I help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, develop strategies to ease the weight they carry day-to-day, and embrace what makes them unique as a source of strength and empowerment.
Through our work together, clients begin to feel more grounded, self-aware, and equipped with tools that work for them. My goal is to create a space where people feel safe to be fully themselves—where they are not judged, but supported, celebrated, and empowered to live in alignment with who they truly are.

Tara Doherty is currently completing her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, where she is gaining hands-on experience as a practicum student. She is also an Ontario-certified teacher and holds a degree in Psychology from York University. She has over 20 years of experience working with the neurodivergent community as an educator, supporting learners in both educational and clinical settings. As an Ontario-certified teacher, she has dedicated much of her career to creating strengths-based, inclusive learning environments.
For the past three years, Tara has worked at a multidisciplinary clinic, where she serves as an ADHD coach for neurodivergent children and adolescents, in addition to her role as Director of Academic Services. These experiences have deepened her commitment to fostering affirming spaces where young people feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Outside of Tara’s professional life, she is a proud mom of two young children and a lifelong lover of the arts. She brings creativity, empathy, and a deep respect for each individual’s unique journey into her work with clients.

Former competitive ice dancer – I represented Canada in international competitions and had the incredible opportunity to travel the world as a high-level athlete.
World traveller with English roots – I was born in England and lived there for six years in my early 20s, where I also completed my teacher training. That time had a profound impact on both my personal and professional growth.
Favourite quote – “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” – Maya Angelou. This quote reflects my conviction in the significance of empathy, presence, and connection in both educational and therapeutic contexts.
